23 Oct Vape Recycling Launch
We are excited to announce the launch of our vape recycling stations!
Single-use vaping in Australia is increasing, as recent statistics from the Australian Alcohol and Drug Foundation reveal that 21% of Australians aged 14 and above either vape or smoke.
Single-use vapes are creating a new waste stream that contains materials which, while hazardous, are valuable if handled correctly—such as nickel, manganese, and aluminium.
Additionally, vapes contain cobalt, which is mined by workers, including children, under slave-like conditions in the Congo. Repurposing cobalt from the batteries inside vapes is essential for both environmental and social reasons.
By partnering with entertainment venues and local councils, we have placed collection bins in high traffic locations where single-use vapers can recycle their used vapes. We are offering a sustainable solution for this growing problem for the community.
